Serve God or God Serve Me?
1Kings 18:21 The Context: Ahab was one of the Israel’s evil kings who led the people in idol worship. The prophet Elijah challenged Ahab to gather his 850 prophets of Baal and Asherah. Elijah was going to challenge them to a contest between God and their idols. Rejecting Elijah’s God Who condemned their sin they were willing to try whatever gods were popular. They were looking not for a God to serve, but for a God who would serve them.
God Asks Us: How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, then follow him.
jne: What kind of God am I looking for? There are many things we in America idolize. How many different idols have we tried in our search for meaning in life? Am I looking for a God to meet me on my terms, or for a God Who offers me His Life on His gracious terms?
